Why hello there, fellow explorer! You have probably clicked this topic as you as well have entered the world of Etrian Odyssey. Well, lucky for you, this is the place for explorers to gather and share their adventures, and maybe create some of our own. So what are you waiting for? Join our guild today!
For those of you who are ignorant of this series, let me educate you~
What is Etrian Odyssey?
Etrian Odyssey or Sekaiju no Meikyuu (Labyrinth of Yggdrasil) is a dungeon crawler RPG made by ATLUS for the DS family of gaming consoles. You must create a guild of 5 characters, choosing from a series of about 8 classes, to explore the labyrinth (Or Labyrinths, for EOIV) of that game. But it is not that simple. Extremely strong enemies known as FOE will get in your way along with random encounters with weaker monsters.
The Etrian Odyssey series is known for its brutal difficulty and map-making element. It takes off of classic tabletop games such as Wizardry and Dungeons and Dragons. You will know by the first stratum whether it's for you or not.
Warning- Most of the games are rated T for GOOD REASON. The games may seem innocent at first, but they get darker and darker as you progress, having themese such as genocide and the human nature's lust for power. If you can't handle things like that, DO NOT PLAY THESE GAMES!!
What are the current installments in the series?
As of 5/24/13, these are the current games in the Etrian Odyssey franchise-
Etrian Odyssey - Sekaiju no Meikyuu - 2007 Set in the town of Etria, players are assigned with the task of exploring the Yggdrasil Labyrinth.
Etrian Odyssey II : Heroes of Lagaard - Sekaiju no Meikyū II: Shoō no Seihai - 2008 Set in Lagaard, players are tasked of working their way up Yggdrasil to find the City in the Sky.
Etrian Odyssey III : The Drowned City - Sekaiju no Meikyū III: Seikai no Raihōsha - 2010 Set in the aquatic-surronded city of Armoroad, players delve into a Labyrinth created by an earthquake to unveil the secrets of the Deep City
Etrian Odyssey IV : Legends of the Titan - Sekaiju no Meikyū IV: Denshō no Kyojin - 2013 Set in Tharsis, the player takes flight in a Skyship and explores 6 main labyrinths as well as a vareity of smaller dungeons to reach the holy tree Yggdrasil.
Etrian Odyssey Untold : The Millineum Girl - Shin Sekaijū no Meikyū Mireniamu no Shōjo -2013 A remastering of the first game, players can either choose Story mode, which follows the story of a Highlander and a pre-set guild, or Classic mode, which is the original Etrian Odyssey remade
