If you're using smileys that are copied and pasted from facebook or other sites that are not in the forum's smileys "box" makes it message not appear, that can happen if you're using a font or color that the website doesn't recognize

Yes, you can only use the color or fonts that the site provides u otherwise your message won't show up. For now we only have:

Arial
Arial Black
 Comic Sans MS
Courier New
Georgia
Impact

Serif
