Unlucky 13

There are so many things humanity takes for granted. Pulsing Blood. An independent mind. Even a beating heart. But in a world where anyone can get robotic limbs, these things are even at the point of disposable.
But of course, someone needs to test these things so there safe for the public, no?
That's where I come in. My name, well that just depends. If you mean the name I was given at birth, Hageshi Wan. The name the scientists gave me, Test number 13. The name I choose to let others to know be my, Shozko Ozura.
I was an orphan, and orphans who don't get adopted in this world go to the Plant. The place they make the robotic parts. We end up getting tested to the point where we are only metal. But I got out. I escaped. But as the saying goes, 13 is an unlucky number.
But luck was never on my side. So here I am, Unlucky 13.

C h A p t E r 1
It was a day that I'd never forget. It was June 3rd, but nobody could tell any difference in the weather. In this city, it was always warm with a thick layer of smog covering the sky. Unless you went way out in the country, that all it ever was anywhere on this polluted planet. Even then you could barely see the stars.
Welcome to Dysota City, in the New America on the New Earth. The year is 3035. After the Great Industrial Revolution. The world has changed, how it has just depends on where you are. All magic is outlawed in Japan, England is a barren nuclear wasteland, and here in the states? There's a new fad- robotic limbs. Once used to help others in drastic situations, was now used as a fashion accessory. You rarely saw a person without one.
But that's only where it begins. Biorobotics is becoming big, especially within the military. A chip in your brain that can access any database on earth. And arm that can turn into a blaster on will. This sounds very pleasing to the military. But we can't put these things on people without testing them! That's where I come in.
My name? Well that depends on who you ask. If you ask someone before I got whisked away, it's Hageshi Wan. If you ask the Biorobotists, it's 13. If you ask me, it's Shozko Ozura. And only Shozko Ozura. I won't respond to Hageshi, and you call me 13 you lose your head. I am a human guinea pig at the Biorobotic lab in Dysota City. I was always having my body tested on, being given the latest military gadgetry. The day I was talking about earlier, you ask? The Day I broke free.
I woke up with a feminine voice chirping in my head. "Good morning, Lady Shozko!" This was the AI system they installed in me last month, her name was Emlyn. I had configured with the controls so she would call me Shozko instead of 13. "Emlyn, would you tell the base if I busted out?" I asked, sleepy still. "Why of course not! I was installed to be your companion, so as a companion, I will not tell anyone what you do not want me to tell them!" The echoey voice told me. My mouth formed an evil smile. "Good" I said, and flopped out of bed. I checked the time. 9:30. 2 hours before they came to get me. I grabbed my hairbrush, notebook, pen, and any other of my meager belongings (Which pretty much consisted of personal hygiene items outside that notebook and pen).
Emlyn was worried. "You're really doing this lady Shozko? " The AI asked. "I don't have many other options," I said, putting my items in a cinch sack. I heard Emlyn gulp as I turned my robotic arm into a blaster and turned the wall leading out into a pile of rubble. After that, I simply darted out, jumping the fence and running into the city free. I could hear the sirens wail as I ran. "13 has escaped! 13 has escaped!"
13 didn't escape, she died. Right with Hageshi.
The person who escaped is a different girl made from the ashes of the others. Shozko Ozura, is now free.
Oh how it feels good to be free.
