Anti Self-Harm Club!
Hi I'm Lazybug. Some of you may know me, some may not.
I think we can all say we know about self-harm. I'm saying we know it's there not that we all do it.
I majorly dislike it with a passion. If you do too please join and help raise awareness.

I have friends who have hurt themselves over being bullied and feeling worthless. I know I'm not alone. I'm no expert on self-harm and I'm not going to try and be one. It's just something I feel needs to be addressed and dealt with.
Approximately three teenagers (13-19) self-harm every hour in the UK
In 2003-04, there were 24,087 cases of hospitalized self-harm in Australia
Three million Americans engage in some form of self injury
as of 2007

It's not a joke. It's not funny. It's real and it hurts.

I've heard several anti self harm songs and stuff, they always seem to be about girls. Girls aren't the only ones.

Self-harm is not okay. It's not okay that people feel like they
don't belong or don't have anything to lose. It's not. It just isn't. Nobody should have to go through life feeling like that.

I hope You don't mind I'm not filling the form, but to be fair I don't know if I'm a good member for this club, as I have very tiny awareness of the problem and would like to talk about it and learn more, like first thing- what is the scale of the problem? And second thing is is dedicated to hurt in pretty physical term, or are problems like anorexia also included?

Have you ever or do you know someone who self harms(you do not need to answer this one): I have a friend who told me she cut herself, but she told me it was only every once in a while..... which kind of disturbed me, the way she said it....
Why you want to join: I don't want others to be hurting themselves because they don't feel good about themselves. I want to help change that.

Have you ever or do you know someone who self harms?;; yes and yes
Why you want to join;; I want to help people who are in the same position as me. Those who look at sharp objects thinking "if i were alone..." and those who smile slightly when they feel the pain a blade gives you, because it momentarily makes you forget the sinking feeling in your stomach.

The scale of the problem I'd say is quite large, I don't know the exact scale.
Anorexia isn't that an eating disorder, I've only heard of it a few time so I'm not sure.
But the most common form of self-harm is skin-cutting but self-harm also covers a wide range of behaviors including, but not limited to, burning, scratching, banging or hitting body parts, interfering with wound healing (dermatillomania), hair-pulling (trichotillomania) and the ingestion of toxic substances or objects. Behaviours associated with substance abuse and eating disorders are usually not considered self-harm because the resulting tissue damage is ordinarily an unintentional side effect. However, the boundaries are not always clearly defined and in some cases behaviours that usually fall outside the boundaries of self-harm may indeed represent self-harm if performed with explicit intent to cause tissue damage. Although suicide is not the intention of self-harm, the relationship between self-harm and suicide is complex, as self-harming behaviour may be potentially life-threatening. There is also an increased risk of suicide in individuals who self-harm to the extent that self-harm is found in 40–60% of suicides. However, generalising self-harmers to be suicidal is, in the majority of cases, inaccurate. Self-harm is listed in the DSM-IV-TR as a symptom of borderline personality disorder. However patients with other diagnoses may also self-harm, including those with depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, and several personality disorders. The motivations for self-harm vary and it may be used to fulfill a number of different functions. These functions include self-harm being used as a coping mechanism which provides temporary relief of intense feelings such as anxiety, depression, stress, emotional numbness or a sense of failure or self-loathing and other mental traits including low self-esteem or perfectionism.

Whaa, those songs are so sad  Crying or Very sad  But important, too. Because there are people going through these things, and they feel alone, and unloved, and unwanted.
